8-Day Yellowstone National Park Itinerary
Day 1 Los Angeles - Colorful Stone Matrix - Zion National Park
After gathering at 8:00 in the morning, we will depart from beautiful Los Angeles and drive north along Highway 15 , passing through the San Bernardino National Forest and entering the largest Mojave Desert in North America. Along the way, we will enjoy the unique Gobi scenery of the American West. We will visit the Seven Magic Mountains (also known as the Seven Magic Mountains) on the way. After a short stop, we will continue to move forward for about 3 hours to reach the famous hiking destination - Zion National Park , climb the peak and watch the sunset. Stay in nearby Kanab at night.
- Seven Magic Mountains
A beautiful, fully man-made attraction located about 20 miles south of Las Vegas, designed by Swiss designer Ugo Rondinone and on display in the desert next to the 15 Freeway. These huge stones, sourced from local materials, were painted with bright fluorescent paints and stacked into seven 30-35- foot-high stone circles, which appear even brighter and more colorful in the desert!
- Zion National Park
Zion National Park is the most diverse, oldest and most visited national park in Utah, covering a total area of 229 square miles ( 593 square kilometers). It is a spectacular canyon with steep boulders towering into the clouds and an unfathomable valley bottom. The canyon is narrow and deep. Standing at the bottom of the valley and looking at the cliffs, the scenery is very spectacular. It is very suitable for hiking, wading, and rock climbing (professional licenses are required in some places).
Tour duration: 0.5 hours for the colorful Stonehenge
Zion National Park: about 1 to 2 hours
Hotel: Comfort INN or similar
Day 2 Kanab - Antelope Canyon - Horseshoe Bend - Lake Powell - Salt Lake City
On the second day of the trip, we will depart from Kanab (about 90 minutes) to the world's first slot cave, which is rated as one of the world's top ten photography sites. Follow the Navajo guide into the Antelope Canyon , where you will be in a colorful world, walk in the unique cave formed by hundreds of millions of years of river erosion, watch the irregular color changes caused by the refraction of natural sunlight on the rocks in the valley, and appreciate the magical corridor of the Antelope Canyon. Then we will drive to Horseshoe Bend to appreciate the wonders of nature. Then go to the beautiful Lake Powell to enjoy the beauty of the lake. After the trip, we will drive about 5 and a half hours and arrive in Salt Lake City at around 8 pm to check in to the hotel. Prepare for tomorrow's Yellowstone trip.
- Antelope Canyon water tour
Stunning natural rock formations and lighting conditions make Antelope Canyon one of the most popular iconic destinations for photographers. We offer the option of taking a yacht, kayak, jet ski and using an open bow and limiting our passenger capacity for convenience and comfort, allowing you to maximize your panoramic views of Antelope Canyon. The 2-hour photo tour allows you to capture the scenic walls of Antelope Canyon, Bower Lake, Glen Canyon Dam and Wahweap Bay. Your photos and shots are sure to stand out on your social platforms.
- Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon is located in the north of Arizona, USA. It is formed by soft sandstone after millions of years of various erosion forces. Flash floods often flow into the canyon during the monsoon season. Due to the sudden increase in rainfall, the flow rate of the flash flood is quite fast. In addition, the narrow channel narrows the river channel, so the vertical erosion force is relatively large, forming the corridor at the bottom of the Antelope Canyon and the hard and smooth edges on the valley wall that look like flowing water. Although Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon, when people go deep into the valley, they will find that it is like a wonderful art palace. The valley wall looks soft, but it is actually very hard. The rock surface seems to be carefully polished, and the layers flow along the rock wall. When the sun shines into the quiet canyon, the dance of light and shadow releases its charm here.
- Horseshoe Bend
National Geographic Magazine selected this as one of the seven best photography spots in the United States. The dense aquatic plants on the Colorado River bed make the river water appear fluorescent green in the sun. The river turns 360 degrees in the reddish-brown canyon here, cutting out a horseshoe-shaped canyon, hence the name Horseshoe Bend. Standing on the edge of the cliff, you will be intoxicated by the breathtaking beauty of the blue water, blue sky and red rocks.
- Lake Powell
Straddling the border of Arizona and Utah, Lake Powell is one of the most popular inland water recreation hotspots in the U.S. This is not only because of its vast area of nearly 658 square kilometers, but also because of the rugged and beautiful geological wonders surrounding its shores.
Kind tips:
- Tripods and monopods are not permitted in Antelope Canyon.
- Recommended to bring: camera, mineral water, comfortable sports shoes, sunscreen, sun hat
Tour time: Antelope Canyon is about 70 minutes
Lake Powell 30 minutes
Horseshoe Bay 1 hour
Optional activities: Water Antelope Canyon Cruise - (optional kayaks, motorboats, yachts)
Aerial view of Horseshoe Bay, Lake Powell, Glen Dam, and Indian Monument (optional helicopter or small plane)
Hotel: Comfort INN or similar
Day 3 Salt Lake City - Yellowstone National Park - Grand Prismatic Spring - Old Faithful Geyser - Yellowstone Bear World
In the morning, we will depart from Salt Lake City and drive to the desirable Yellowstone National Park. Today we will take you to visit the main attractions of Yellowstone Park, including the well-known Dalingjing Hot Spring, Old Faithful Hot Spring, Yellowstone Bear World, etc. At the end of the tour, there is a surprise for everyone - Yellowstone Bear World. Here we will conduct our wild adventure, so that you can see all kinds of animals more closely.
- Great Salt Lake 30 minutes
The Great Salt Lake is the second largest saltwater lake in the world and the largest inland salt lake in North America. It is located in western Utah, USA, with the Rocky Mountains to the east and the desert to the west. It consists of 10 islands. It is also a wildlife sanctuary, attracting millions of migratory birds every year. The salt content of the lake water here is as high as 25%, second only to the Dead Sea. Only some algae that can tolerate high salinity can survive in the lake.
- Yellowstone National Park
It is the world's first national park, located in the Rocky Mountains, known as the "backbone of America", on the lava plateau between the northern Rockies and the central Los Angeles Mountains in the western United States. It was established on March 1, 1872 and is famous for its rich wildlife and geothermal resources. The park is named after the source of the Yellowstone River, and there are hundreds of recorded animals. Native Americans have lived in the Yellowstone Park area for at least 11,000 years. Geothermal wonders are its symbol. The natural landscape in the park is divided into five major areas, namely the Mammoth Area, the Roosevelt Area, the Canyon Area, the Geyser Area and the Lake Area, each with its own characteristics.
- The Grand Prismatic Hot Spring 40 minutes
Also known as the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring , it is located at the coordinates 44.524569, -110.837975 in Yellowstone National Park, USA. It is about 100 meters in diameter and is the largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. It is about 75 to 91 meters wide and 49 meters deep. The water temperature is as high as 85℃, and about 2,000 liters of 71-degree spring water gush out every minute. It was first discovered by explorers in 1839. The amazing thing about the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring is that the color of the lake changes with the seasons. In spring, the lake changes from emerald green to golden orange-red. In midsummer, the chlorophyll decreases, so the lake water appears brilliant orange, red or yellow. But in the cold winter, the lack of light makes the water appear deep dark green.
- Old Faithful Geyser 90 minutes
Old Faithful is a geyser located in Yellowstone National Park in the United States . It is named for its consistent and regular eruption. It was named during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition in 1870 and is the first geyser named in Yellowstone National Park. The current eruption pattern is about once every 90 minutes, and each eruption lasts for 4-5 minutes. The water column is more than 40 meters high, which is spectacular and never stops. The geyser and the Old Faithful Inn next to it are listed as the Old Faithful Historic Area.
- Yellowstone Bear World
A trip to Yellowstone National Park or Grand Teton National Park wouldn't be complete without a drive-thru at Yellowstone Bear World. Yellowstone Bear World is a bear-themed wildlife park and the only drive-thru wildlife sanctuary in the Greater Yellowstone area. In addition to American black bears and grizzly bears, the featured animals here include a variety of large animals unique to North America, such as bison, gray wolves, elk, and reindeer. In designated areas, visitors can leave their cars and observe wildlife up close, such as wandering livestock, various birds, and fawns.
Hotel: Yellowstone Ecosphere Lodge
Tips: The tour guide will arrange the attractions in Yellowstone Park according to the actual situation of the day. Please refer to the tour guide's arrangements on the day of joining the tour.
Day 4: Volcanic Column Cliff - Mammoth Hot Springs - Roosevelt Arch - Lama Valley - Canyon Waterfall - Yellowstone Ecosystem Hot Springs
This morning we will depart from the East Gate. The tour guide will take you to visit the scenic spots on the Yellowstone National Park. We will drive north from Madison Junction. We will first reach the volcanic column cliff and Howling Mountain , and then go to Mammoth Hot Springs , another important attraction in Yellowstone Park. At Mammoth Hot Springs, you can enjoy the travertine steps on the plank road, or go to the visitor center to learn more about the history and culture of Yellowstone. After a short stay at the Roosevelt Arch at the north gate of Yellowstone, the tour guide will take you to visit the Roosevelt District of Yellowstone, which is the area that President Roosevelt loved the most. In Lama Valley, you can see groups of wild animals, and at Roosevelt Ranch, you can experience various western-style experience projects such as carriages and horseback riding. At sunset, we will return to the waterfall area. Interested tourists can walk along the rugged mountain road to the edge of the Yellowstone Falls to see the magnificence of the waterfall.
- Sheepeater Cliff 30 minutes
It is composed of columnar basalts that were deposited by lava flows about 500,000 years ago. The Gardner River flows through the valley, exposing the water and forming the cliffs. The basalts at Sheepeater Cliff are called columnar basalts because hexagonal fracture lines form when the basalt cools.
- Mammoth Hot Springs 60 minutes
Located in the northwest of Yellowstone National Park, it is the headquarters of the Park Administration and the favorite area for elk during courtship. Mammoth Hot Springs is famous for its limestone terrain, which is very different from other geothermal phenomena in the park. The snow-white and dark yellow steps formed by the hot springs are like terraces. When the hot springs gush out from the limestone layer, the hot water dissolves the calcium carbonate in the limestone into the water. When the water flowing out of the surface cools, the calcium carbonate in the water is oversaturated and condenses and settles into a lime platform. When the underground water outlet is blocked by deposits, the spring water flows to other outlets and forms another platform. The spring water deposited in the platform is affected by the activity of algae microorganisms, forming yellow, white, brown and other colors, and the layers are stacked to form "travertine steps". It is like a mammoth covered with long hair in ancient times. Mammoth Hot Springs is the largest carbonate deposit hot spring in the world. The spring water comes from the Norris Geyser Basin, and the water temperature can reach 77℃. Many algae live in the hot springs, making the colors of the hot springs appear brown, orange, red and green. The endless hot springs rush down along the terraces, and the colors are different, forming a colorful large staircase, which is very magnificent. After a crustal movement in 2002, most of the hot springs stopped their activities, resulting in the death of a large number of microorganisms, causing the Mammoth Hot Spring to lose its color, and the dead bacteria also turned into gray-white powder, which remained on the dried large steps.
- Roosevelt Arch 20 minutes
The 26th President of the United States, Roosevelt, laid the foundation stone for the arch in 1903. It is located at the north gate of Yellowstone Park and is one of the main symbols of the park. The north gate is also the only gate with a gate in Yellowstone Park. After the completion of the arch, Roosevelt quoted 10 words from the Act of Congress and engraved them on the arch: "For the benefit and pleasure of the general public."
- Lamar Valley 30 minutes
Lama Valley is the best area for watching animals. It is located at the northeast end of Yellowstone Park. The hillside is gentle and covered with green grass. The residents of the valley include yaks, brown bears, antelopes, black bears, North American elk and other wild animals. It was a farm in the early 20th century, but now it has become a spot for watching gray wolves in the mornings of spring, early summer and winter.
The look and feel of the junction of Tower Roosevelt and Lamar Valley in the middle of Yellowstone Park is described by visitors as "sexy in the front, heroic in the back". I believe that every visitor will have his or her own unique impressions when they are there.
- Lower Yellowstone Falls 30 minutes
The Lower Falls Trail is a must-see trail for viewing the Yellowstone Falls. Walking down the rugged mountain road, you will reach the edge of the Yellowstone Falls. Here you can witness the spectacular sight of the Yellowstone Falls up close.
- Yellowstone Ecosphere Hot Springs
The underground hot springs formed by the Yellowstone Park ecosystem over many years contain a variety of natural minerals that are beneficial to the human body. The beautiful and pleasant environment plus the comfortable and relaxing hot springs will wash away your travel fatigue and allow you to enjoy the relaxing moments of your trip.
Note: You can bring your own towel or rent one. The rental fee is about 3-5 USD. You need to bring your own swimsuit.
Optional activities: Yellowstone Lake Cruise: Yellowstone Lake will be open for sightseeing in mid-June depending on the weather. Yellowstone Lake Cruise (an in-park project) must be booked in advance and at your own expense. Go according to the reservation time.
Hotel: Geyser Inn or similar
Day 5 Yellowstone National Park - West Thumb Geyser - Grand Teton National Park - Utah State Capitol - Temple Square - Salt Lake City
Today we will start from the west gate and visit Yellowstone Park . First, we will take you to visit the West Thumb Geyser Basin on the edge of Yellowstone Lake, and then go to Grand Teton National Park . After that, we will make a short stop at Elk Antler Arches Park and then take you to the Utah State Capitol and Temple Square . After the tour, we will return to the Salt Lake City hotel to rest.
- West Thumb Geyser Basin 60 minutes
The West Thumb Geyser Basin, located on the edge of Yellowstone Lake, was formed 150,000 years ago by the collapse of the earth's crust. The combination of hot springs and lake water has created a wonderful misty landscape: the misty area is the steam of hot springs, and the green waves are the water of Yellowstone Lake, which complements the blue sky and white clouds in the background, forming a landscape different from other hot spring areas in Yellowstone. This area is equivalent to the bay of Yellowstone Lake, where many geysers gather. The colors of the water vents vary, some are transparent green, and some are dark black like cement. Many water vents present a beautiful fantasy.
- Elk Antler Arches Park 30 minutes
The park is not big, but there are giant arches made of deer antlers in the four directions of east, west, south and north. Deer antlers are all hard goods, and it would be a pity if they were not used as antler supplements. These deer antlers are not obtained by hunting, but by a large number of elk coming from the mountains to the "National Elk Refuge" in Jackson to spend the winter. In the spring, the antlers fall off naturally and are replaced. After the elk leave, countless treasures are left all over the place.
- Grand Teton National Park 90 minutes
Established on February 26, 1929, it is named after the highest peak of the Teton Range. The park has a nearly pristine ecosystem, with some prehistoric plants and animals still surviving today, and the oldest stone confirmed to be from 2.7 billion years ago. The Chinese lakes, rivers and snow-capped mountains in the park, led by Jackson Lake and Jenny Lake, together form a peaceful world south of Yellowstone. In addition, Grand Teton National Park also has a very rich variety of creatures, including American bison, grizzly bears, black bears, moose, and more.
- Utah State Capitol 30 minutes
The Utah State Capitol is located in Salt Lake City. The size and shape of the entire building are comparable to the Capitol Hill in Washington. The top of the state government building is a Byzantine dome, which is dazzling and brilliant under the sunlight. The interior of the building is even more magnificent and meticulously carved. The walls are smooth marble, the ceiling is painted with exquisite murals, and countless finely carved statues of people stand in it, lifelike. In addition, since Utah is also known as the "Beehive State", a beehive sculpture is placed in a prominent place in front of the building, which is one of the attractions that tourists who come here must take photos.
- Temple Square 30 minutes
Temple Square is a 10-acre (4.0 ha) complex of buildings in downtown Salt Lake City owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It contains the Salt Lake City Temple, the Salt Lake City Tabernacle, the Salt Lake City Assembly Hall, the Seagull Monument, and two visitor centers. In 1964, the square was designated a National Historic Landmark District in recognition of the Mormons' achievements in settling in Utah.

- Valley of Fire State Park
Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest and largest state park in Nevada. The entire expanse of red rock has formed various shapes due to weathering. From a distance, it looks like a sea of fire, which is also the origin of the name Valley of Fire.

West Rim
The West Canyon is the western end of the long Colorado Canyon, also known as the West Canyon, or the Grand Canyon West Rim. The West Canyon is a protected area of the Hualapai Indians, developed by investors, and is not managed by the Grand Canyon National Park. The West Canyon is within three hours from Las Vegas. A U-shaped glass corridor has been built here for everyone to experience the height and excitement of the canyon. -
West Rim Skywalk
The West Canyon Glass Bridge was conceived by the Chinese and took 10 years to plan and build. It is known as the eighth wonder of the world. The project can withstand strong winds, magnitude 8 earthquakes, and the weight of 20,000 people. The glass bridge is horseshoe-shaped and more than 1,000 meters above the ground. The bottom of the entire bridge is made of glass, which is enough to test the courage of tourists. Standing on the glass bridge, overlooking the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River more than 1,000 meters below, you can feel the freedom of walking in the clouds. - Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam is a key project for the comprehensive development of Colorado River water resources in the United States. It is located in the Black Canyon at the junction of Nevada and Arizona. It has comprehensive benefits such as flood control, irrigation, power generation, shipping, and water supply. Looking down at Hoover Dam, it is located in the northwest of Arizona, on Interstate Highway 93, at the northwest junction of Nevada and Arizona. It occupies an important position in the world's water conservancy projects. The construction of Hoover Dam cost a lot of money and mobilized a large number of manpower. It was completed and put into use in 1936. It is an arch-type gravity man-made concrete dam. The dam is 220 meters high, 200 meters wide at the bottom, 14 meters wide at the top, and 377 meters long. Such a huge dam is rare in the world. The Colorado River under the dam was originally the deepest and most turbulent river in the United States, but now it flows slowly.
- Free travel option 2: Death Valley + Red Rock Canyon
Death Valley National Park is located in the desert valley of California, USA, on the border between California and Nevada, and bordered by the Nevada Mountains to the east. It has a total area of 3,000 square kilometers, which is one and a half times larger than the state of Delaware, USA. 550 square kilometers of it are below sea level. It is located on the border between California and Nevada, about 224 kilometers from Las Vegas . Death Valley National Park is the largest national park in the continental United States and the hottest and lowest area in North America.
Death Valley National Park has a very high rating and popularity on Google Review. As of 2019, there have been more than 17,000 reviews, and the total score is above 4.7/5. This score is on par with the most popular Grand Teton National Park.
- Badwater Basin is the representative landscape of Death Valley (about 30 minutes). Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America, 282 feet below sea level. It is the most famous attraction in Death Valley and a must-see place for checking in. It was once the site of the ancient large inland Manly Lake. Over tens of thousands of years, with climate change and reduced rainfall, the lake water began to evaporate and dry up, and the salt concentration in the water gradually increased and began to form crystals, finally forming this incredible white honeycomb-shaped salt land.
- Zabriskie Point is the representative landscape of Death Valley (about 30 minutes). It is the most iconic and spectacular scenic spot in Death Valley. For thousands of years, the power of nature has made the mountains here into a unique folded landform. Under the oblique rays of the rising sun, the mountains are clearly visible, with a strong three-dimensional sense. Yesterday's sunset was fiery red, and today's sunrise was golden yellow. The Death Valley in the early morning is another scene under the rising sun. The undulating mountains are mostly covered with a layer of golden yellow, and the originally red cliffs also reflect the beauty of golden red.
- Dante's View overlooks the entire Death Valley for about 30 minutes. Dante's View is more than 6,000 feet above the Badwater Basin. You can experience the huge vertical drop at your fingertips. If Zabriskie Point brings you shock, then Dante's View gives you an extreme shock. As soon as you climbed onto the observation deck, everyone shouted at the same time. Dante's View not only gives you a bird's-eye view of the mountains, but also a feeling of having reached the top of the sky. There is nothing around you except the sky. Below, under the almost steep cliff, you can see a white, irregular semi-arc, which is the Badwater Basin, which is almost 6,000 feet below the observation deck. Such a straight-down and straight-up view can only be experienced in Death Valley.
- Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area , covering an area of 197,000 acres, is located 20 miles west of downtown Las Vegas. It has 19 hiking trails and is one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Nevada. It is one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Nevada. It was formed due to the violent movement of the submarine strata more than 600 million years ago. After several crustal movements, it formed today's wonderful red rock wonders with winding mountains, overlapping peaks and strange peaks. Because of the infiltration of iron oxide and centuries of weathering, the rocks here form a unique fiery red color, which is gorgeous and dazzling. The local Indian ruins are also a highlight, and you can see wild animals here. It is a good place to visit near Las Vegas. Many newlyweds who register for marriage in the gambling city also use this as a wedding photo shooting scene.
